Volunteer

The Golden Backpack Program helps feed more than 600 Golden students in need by providing a sack full of enough food to feed a child for the entire weekend.

School year volunteer opportunities:

Wednesdays | 9:00am-11:10am | Drivers & Helpers
Pick up food from Food Bank of the Rockies and deliver to Golden Church of the Nazarene. We need 4 Drivers + 4 Helpers (monthly rotation possible).

Wednesdays | 11:00am-12:30pm | Unloaders & Setup
Unload food from truck and packaging setup at Golden Church of the Nazarene. We need 6 Unloaders + 6 Packaging Setup

Wednesdays | 6:00pm-6:30pm | Pack Sacks
Help bag meals for approximately 600 Golden area school kids at Golden Church of the Nazarene. We need 50 Packers!
*This opportunity is perfect for families with kids who want to volunteer!

Thursdays | 6:30am-8:00am | Bin Stagers
Move and stage bins containing sacks of food from inside Golden Church of Nazarene to be picked up and delivered to schools. We need 4 to Stage.

Thursdays | 7:00am-10:00am | Drivers
Pick up food at Golden Church of Nazarene and deliver to Golden area schools. Return empty bins to Church of the Nazarene by noon.. We need 4-16 Drivers.

Summer opportunities with the Snack-N-Wagon

Service Leader Volunteers
Responsible for counting lunches and drinks, serving the lunches, and making sure that all children clean their hands.

Free Book Program Volunteers
Responsible for managing the Free Book Program, including any reading support sessions by youth and adult volunteers and ensure that baskets are refreshed each day to provide a good selection of reading for children.

Activity Volunteers
Responsible for helping set up toys and games, monitoring and encouraging activities.

Snack-N-Wagon Driver Volunteers
Responsible for driving the Snack-N-Wagon to deliver and help set up the site at Mountainside Estates from June 30 – August 8.
(Valid CO driver’s license, good driving record; must be at least 18 years of age.)
